“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.”
—Sir Edmund Hillary
Hey there!! Welcome to my outdoor adventures blog and thanks for stopping by!
Who am I?
I am Anitha, a Software Engineer based in the beautiful and vibrant San Francisco Bay Area.
I am so fond of traveling and thanks to my parents, it started right from my childhood. I have always been curious about places, its geography, people, their culture, and in general the way they live their lives. Some of the travels have created lasting memories. As someone who grew up in a small town in the southern part of India, traveling opened up new horizons and helped me take a peek at the world outside through my own little window, to see things from a different perspective and be more broad minded about accepting others the way they are.
When it comes to outdoor activities, hiking is one of our family’s favorite activities which we make it a point to squeeze into our busy lives. I have been an avid hiker for many years now and lately started pushing the limits in trying out more endurance hikes and loving every bit of it.
Why do I love outdoors?
I love anything and everything about nature, like something as simple as taking leisurely walks around the neighborhood but the mountains definitely hold a special place in my heart. The feeling of accomplishment as I summit each and every one of these mountains, no matter how small or big it is, reminds me of the quote by Sir Edmund Hillary “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.”
Living in an area like this where we are blessed with so many hills and mountains surrounding us, I began to venture out more and more, added some variety like biking and trail running to it. I started going out with different groups thus expanding my circle of friends with similar interests.
Why this blog?
I started this blog to share my love for outdoor activities and get others motivated to enjoy what nature has got to offer. When I hiked Mt Whitney, quite a few in our circle of friends asked me about the details on how to plan for it and this blog stemmed from putting it out in writing my experiences on doing that epic hike. I try my best to create informative posts about interesting places with tips that others may find useful in planning their outings.
I always liked to write, be it reviewing a book I recently read or jotting down some random thoughts or experiences in journals. To me writing creates deeper memories and I like how blogging provides me the platform to combine my passion for both traveling and writing.
You may have noticed that I start each and every post with a quote. Why? You may ask. Because I simply like them!
Once again, thanks for stopping by and pls come back to check out my new blogs. Your feedback is welcome.
